Definition of Rules for Commercial Offerings
From SIPfoundry sipx, The Open Source SIP PBX for Linux - Calivia
| Important note: This is a commercial page. It defines rules for how resellers of sipX or SIPxchange are allowed to advertise their services and capabilities on specially designated pages on the sipX Wiki. We assume you will be respectful of these rules. |
Rules for the Exposure of Commercial Content on the sipX Wiki
"Things that are out of balance usually don't last". This saying also applies to sipX. Balance in this context means the following: We would like to enable you to make a living reselling the sipX solution, add-on capabilities, as well as services you might want to offer to customers. At the same time we would like you to be mindful of significant effort provided on an on-going basis by others. In particular, we expect you to be mindful of those who carry the main load when it comes to providing ongoing development for sipX as well as provide and maintain our community resources.
As such we believe that together we can create something really lasting and powerful. Without that balance of mutual prosperity sipX will go by the wayside eventually, destroying all the effort that was contributed by many different parties and individuals.
Therefore, we propose the following rules to govern the exposure of commercial offerings to our community:
- Commercial offerings are welcome from resellers of either sipX or SIPxchange, the commercial version of sipX offered by Pingtel. The principle is, however, that if you make a buck we would like to live too.
- Only resellers of SIPxchange are allowed to upload their logo to the reseller directory. The logo has to fit within the box provided.
- Commercial offerings that do not directly relate to sipX or SIPxchange are not allowed and will be removed.
- Commercial offerings are restricted to pages designated as pages that contain such offerings. They are marked with a green bar on top of each page (Box Commercial) where a summary of the page content is to be provided.
- Linking to a commercial page is allowed from any page on the Wiki. However, you are requested to respect pages created by other people. Excessive links will be removed.
- Linking to a commercial page from the front page is not allowed except from within the green box designated for commercial offerings. The space available to such content on the front page is extremely limited and we therefore reserve the right to edit this section at any time.
- Commercial pages have to be informative, helpful to our users, factual, and neutral. No excessive marketing is allowed and you are encouraged to only use reasonable size logos and other visual material.
- We reserve the right to edit or in some extreme cases remove commercial pages at any time.
